Taḥaffuẓ-i ʿAqāʾid-i Ahl-i Sunnat by Mawlānā ʿAbd al-Raḥīm Chāryārī

Taḥaffuẓ-i ʿAqāʾid-i Ahl-i Sunnat is an extensive Urdu compilation by Mawlānā ʿAbd al-Raḥīm Chāryārī, devoted to the exposition and defence of the beliefs and doctrinal positions of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamāʿah as understood within the Deobandi scholarly tradition.

Rather than being a simple primer of creed, the work brings together a wide range of fatwās, articles, scholarly discussions, critical essays, endorsements, and doctrinal clarifications by prominent ʿulamāʾ. It addresses a number of disputed theological and devotional questions that became the subject of controversy in the Indian subcontinent, with the aim of defining the boundaries of orthodox Sunni belief and clarifying positions that the compiler regarded as having been misunderstood or misrepresented.

The volume includes material from a number of well-known scholars, among them Qāḍī Maẓhar Ḥusayn, Mawlānā Muḥammad Yūsuf Ludhiyānvī, Mawlānā Muḥammad Amīn Ṣafdar Okarwī, and other contemporary muftīs and theologians. Their writings are assembled thematically to provide documentary evidence for the doctrinal positions being discussed.
