A rare edition of the Gloss on al-Maybudhi’s commentary on Hidayat al-Hikmah by ‘Ayn al-Qudat ibn Muhammad al-Hyderabadi (d. 1343 AH/1924-1925 CE) a prominent student of the polymath ‘Abd al-Hayy al-Lacknawi (d. 1886 CE). This ediiton was published just a few years before the author ‘Ayn al-Qudat ibn Muhammad al-Hyderabadi passed away. The publishing house al-Matba al-Yousafi belonged to Mufti Muhammad Yusuf the son-in-law of ‘Abdul Hayy al-Lacknawi.

This rare edition contains three works:

Hidayat al-Hikmah: Athiral-Din al-Mufaddal ibn Umar al-Abhari, who was an astronomer and philosopher of the seventh Islamic century.

Al-Maybudhi commentary of Hidayat al-Hikmat: Qadi Husain bin Muin al-Din Al-Maybudhi (d. 1504 CE). This work is a favourite text-book for beginners in philosophy.
